I love a good foot massage. It feels good, right?
That's why I originally started going to reflexology. It gave me an hour out of my busy lifestyle to just relax and 'be in the moment', plus it really relieved the tension in my feet that had been created from being stood up in a classroom all day.
However, i quickly began to realise that these sessions were helping more than just my tired feet - my head was becoming clearer so planning my lessons seemed easier, the stomach pains that I had suffered through my teens and twenties started to ease, my headaches altogether stopped and my body just felt 'lighter'.
That's the thing about reflexology, it's hard to fully understand the treatment until you try it out. How does touching reflex points on the face and feet actually help relieve tension and pain on different parts of the body?
Applying pressure and massaging these points doesn't just feel good.. it sends a calming message from the peripheral nerves in the extremities (hand, feet, face) to the central nervous system which ultimately increases blood supply thus encouraging organs to function at a higher level.
'Reflexology-the only kind of pressure you should feel today'.
